Work Party: Demolition & Salvage
October 16th -18th @ Company Shops Market
Building
Company Shops Market held a volunteer work party
weekend on Oct 15th - 17th, 2009. We accomplished a lot this
weekend. We tore down the 'managers' office on the back right side
of the main room. Steps were taken to salvage the windows, door,
paneling and lumber for use in future projects. We removed the old
soiled carpet from the downstairs office areas. We also took down
the unwanted office partitions in the upstairs area, opening up the
space.

Day 1 (Friday): Friday night's objective was to tear down the
corner office while salvaging as many usable materials as possible.
Thank you to Matt Heidel, Bob Held, Paul Bogdan, Bill Dunn, Kevin
Helvey, Eric Michel, Sharon Dent, Greg Frazier, Nate Perry and other
volunteers for spending their Friday evening working to bring the
co-op one step closer to opening our doors for business.

Day 2 (Saturday): Saturday's objective was to cut away the
drywall covering the glass block windows in the front of the
building, tear down the office partitions upstairs, and remove nails
from the wood salvaged during tear down last night and today.

Holmes, Ralph Macy, Kevin Helvey, Eric Michel, Eric Henry,
Sharon Dent, Greg Frazier, Bob Hykes, Nate Perry and other
volunteers for spending their Saturday working to bring order and

Day 3 (Sunday): Sunday's objective was to take down the
divider wall that formerly separated the office are upstairs into
two sections. Plus finish sorting and prepping salvaged materials,
complete the tear-out of worn soiled carpet in the back office
areas, and clean up from a messy and productive weekend for the
co-op.
Thank you to George Stockwell, Barry
Vaughn, Kevin Helvey, Eric Michel, Sharon Dent, Sarah Cook, Nate
Perry and other volunteers for spending their Sunday afternoon
finishing up the last of Saturdays projects, sorting, sweeping and
packing up after a satisfying and productive weekend. |
