The two main
fundraising vehicles for Company Shops Market are selling
ownership shares and gaining participating in the Community
Investment Note Program. Both categories of money are considered
equity and will strengthen our financial position, giving us
more financial power and flexibility, and enabling us to secure
bank financing if needed.
The Co-op will set
specific fundraising goals for Notes early in 2008 when our
financial pro-forma is complete, but we will likely need to
raise a few hundred thousand dollars through this program
shortly after securing a location. This will allow us to
confidently move into the design and up-fit phase of this
project and will ensure strong cash flow for store operations.
Community Investment
Notes are interest bearing notes that are available to North
Carolina residents interested in investing in Company Shops
Market. These Notes are an instrumental part of the continued
financing of Company Shops Market.
The Community
Investment Notes Program allows individuals to invest directly
in a socially, economically, and environmentally responsible
business in their community. The proceeds will be used to start
and sustain our community-owned enterprise, Company Shops
Market.
