Survey:

Tell us what you think about local food and the Company Shops Market co-op... and help a Senior at Elon University complete her capstone research project at the same time.

My name is Clementine Wall and I am a Senior anthropology major at Elon. This semester I am researching local food in North Carolina for my senior capstone project with Dr. Tom Mould. Specifically, we are looking at local participation in community endeavors like the Company Shops Market.
Below is a link to a short survey that asks questions regarding your participation in the Company Shops Market. The survey will take you approximately ten minutes to complete and all responses are completely anonymous. If at any time you feel uncomfortable with a question, you may move on the next without answering.
The results from this survey will be used both in this academic work at Elon, as well as made available to the Company Shops Market Board to help them in their work in the community. Thank you for your time and your commitment to the Company Shops Market.

Interesting Tidbits:

Smith Family Foundation invests $50k:

The Smith Family Foundation has recently loaned the co-op $50,000 through the Community Investment Note Program. This is an exciting boost towards our goal of opening the co-op this year. Thank you!
If you are interested in joining the Smiths and 90+ individuals and organizations who have already become Community Investors, visit the investment page of our website for more information, including the Prospectus.

We Have a Brand New (White) Roof:

The Company Shops Market building has a brand spankin' new roof. If you have driven by the building recently, you have probably noticed the bright and shiny white roof. We chose to go with a white roof because in our climate, a reflective white roof can save as much as 15% on energy and cooling costs.
This is an example of a simple way to incorporate "cool roof" green building technology into a project with little or no added costs. The co-op will be saving money on the cost of cooling the building for decades because we had the forsight to choose an energy-smart roof color. This is a choice that is smart both environmentally and financially. You might be interested in reading this article about white roofs published in the New York Times.

Our New Ownership Brochures: Give one to someone you know!

Company Shops Market Owner BrochureCalling all Owners! Each of you should have received a letter in your mailbox this week that included two copies of our new ownership brochure. Please consider giving these to someone you know who might be interested in Company Shops Market.
Great progress is being made behind-the-scenes towards opening the co-op this year, but we need the your support as ambassadors to the community, as investors willing to loan the co-op money, and as volunteers. Please help us spread the word about the co-op to people who may not have heard about us. Please contact us if you would like additional brochures to give to local family, friends, and neighbors.

Reminder: We Have A New Mailing Address:

Post Office Box 848
Burlington, NC 27216

Any mail received at the Elon post office box will be forwarded on to the new post office box. The clerk at the Post Office said she couldn't wait to have a grocery and cafe downtown and that it was about time we opened a Burlington PO box! - and she's right.
